Fixed fee local stairlift servicing
Regular maintenance and servicing of your stairlift will keep it running smoothly and prolong its life.
We provide servicing for stairlifts installed by Senior Stairlifts, with all our services complying with manufacturer standards.
Our friendly, DBS-checked engineers are based across the UK, and we offer fixed-fee servicing, meaning the price we quote is the price you’ll pay.
If your stairlift is under 5 years old, we may also be able to offer a warranty package which includes servicing. If we haven’t installed your stairlift, we would need to carry out a repair visit first so we can assess the lift and confirm its age and condition before a warranty can be offered.

Trusted by thousands of happy customers

I had my Freecurve stairlift fitted by Matthew from Senior Stairlift. The company has been brilliant from start to finish, very supportive with my particular requirements (not the easiest property to fit one in). They took the time to work out a solution unlike some of the other companies I contacted. Matthew was very professional, and kind and cleaned up thoroughly the little mess that was made. Would certainly recommend this company and Matthew in particular.

Superb service throughout from initial contact to final fitting of the bespoke stairlift for my stairs. I was kept updated at all stages of manufacture and the installation by the expert Carl. Carl was courteous, very efficient and extremely helpful as well as being a very experienced fitter. I have no hesitation at all in recommending this excellent family firm to anyone who is in need of an affordable while high quality stairlift.

Great Service by Senior Stairlifts. Initial visit was by Denise who was helpful and informative. Then Survey was carried out and bespoke track for the stairlift ordered. Good communication throughout from Joe the Operations Manager. The stairlift was fitted by Steve who arrived on time and was friendly and informative throughout. Highly recommended after having numerous other quotes.

Enquired with a couple of companies who said that due to bulkhead height they would be unable to fit a stair lift. Senior Stairlifts, after reviewing photo's and measurements I supplied, said they thought they could do the job. Scott arrived on time and ready for the challenge and within a couple of hours the stair lift was in place and working fine, no issues at all. I am pleased with the workmanship that has enabled my partner to safely traverse our stairs.

We opted for this company after having been disappointed by our initial choice of supplier. The survey was very comprehensive. Fitting was very impressive - with an emphasis on precision & programming of the seat balance & travel along the rail. Final tuning to ensure my exact fitting was thorough & impressive. Steve & Jordan impressed us with their product knowledge, attention to detail &, of great importance to my wife, fully respectful of our property.

Frequently asked questions
A stairlift is a complicated piece of machinery. Just like a car, it needs a regular MOT to keep everything working as it should. Regular stairlift servicing helps:
- Keep the lift running smoothly
- Make sure that the stairlift remains safe to use
- Catch little problems before they become bigger ones (reducing the chances of a more costly repair call out)
- Prolong the life of the stairlift
The standard answer to this question is once every 12 months, in line with British Standards guidance.
However, for more heavily used stairlifts, or older models, you may want to consider a service every 6 months instead. Our engineers will let you know if they think your stairlift needs more regular servicing when they visit.
If something doesn’t seem right with your stairlift, it’s a clear sign that it may be time for a service. Your stairlift will need a service and/or a repair if:
- It has started to make funny noises
- Controls have stopped working or warning indicators have started appearing
- It isn’t delivering a smooth ride any more
- There are intermittent power or battery issues
We’ll send one of our local DBS-checked engineers out to service your stairlift. We’ll let you know their name in advance, so you know exactly who to expect.
During the service, your engineer will:
- Thoroughly inspect and test the stairlift and rail
- Perform a deep clean of the stairlift mechanism and the rail, removing compacted dust and hair
- Lubricate the stairlift rail
- Check the battery and how well it charges
- Make sure controls and remotes are in good working order
- Test the movement of the lift itself to make sure it moves along the rail smoothly, at a constant speed, without any bumps or jumps
- Check mechanisms such as swivel seats, footrests, etc.
All our stairlift services comply with manufacturer standards.
We offer fixed price stairlift servicing. This price depends on your precise model and installation. Call us on 0800 995 6019 or request a callback for a free, no obligation quote.
The price we quote is the price you pay. The only extra cost you may need to pay is for any replacement parts, should your stairlift need them.
If you’re already a Senior Stairlifts customer, your service will be included for free if you have purchased an extended warranty with us.
We have experience repairing models from almost all major stairlift manufacturers.
Our engineers service popular models from the following stairlift brands:
- Access BDD (formerly Thyssenkrupp)
- Acorn
- Bespoke
- Bruno
- Brooks
- Handicare
- Otolift
- Platinum
- Stannah
On average a well looked after stairlift should last 10 years. But the exact lifespan depends on a number of factors, including:
- How well the stairlift has been maintained and serviced
- Whether you had the lift from new or as a reconditioned unit
- How regularly the stairlift has been used
- Whether it is an indoor or outdoor stairlift (outdoor models don’t tend to last as long as indoor ones)
- The availability of spare parts as your stairlift gets older
As your stairlift gets older, particularly as it drops out of warranty, it becomes more important to have an annual service. This will keep your lift in the best working order, as well as help nip smaller problems in the bud before they become larger issues.
In between services, there are a few things you can do to help keep your stairlift running smoothly:
- Regular cleaning – vacuum or run a cloth over the rails and seat to remove dust/hair.
- Don’t exceed the stairlift’s maximum weight limit – putting extra strain on the lift can lead to a breakdown.
- Don’t let children or others mess about with the controls – while a stairlift can seem a great new toy to children, repeated or overly heavy use of the controls could cause a fault.
- Getting the stairlift repaired and parts replaced if something seems wrong – prevent little issues developing into larger, more costly ones.
