The fixed call-out fee covers the engineer attending your home, inspecting your stairlift and all labour required during the visit, whether the engineer is with you for 20 minutes or several hours.
If your stairlift needs a new battery or another part, this will be charged separately. Your engineer will explain what is required, provide the cost and make sure you’re happy before any chargeable parts are fitted.
We can carry a wide range of batteries and spares in our vans, so most repairs can be completed there and then. However, if your engineer doesn’t have a part in the van, then we’ll come back and perform the repair without a further callout charge.

We stock a wide range of batteries and other spare parts in our warehouse, meaning that we can quickly repair most stairlifts without needing to order parts in.
On average a well looked after stairlift should last 10 years. But the exact lifespan depends on a number of factors, including:
- How well the stairlift has been maintained and serviced
- Whether you had the lift from new or as a reconditioned unit
- How regularly the stairlift has been used
- Whether it is an indoor or outdoor stairlift (outdoor models don’t tend to last as long as indoor ones)
- The availability of spare parts as your stairlift gets older
As your stairlift gets older, particularly as it drops out of warranty, it becomes more important to have an annual service. This will keep your lift in the best working order, as well as help nip smaller problems in the bud before they become larger issues.

However, frequent breakdowns, especially on older models, may be a sign that it’s time to consider getting a newer one installed.
