Stairlift Pricing Overview
Stairlifts can be a significant investment, and prices indeed vary, sometimes quite a bit. However, understanding why some stairlifts cost more than others can help you budget wisely and find the best solution for your home and needs.
How Much Does a Stairlift Cost?
There’s no single “average cost of a stairlift” because the final price depends on several key factors. The type of staircase, model, added features, and whether you choose new or used all influence the total stairlift price. You might want to rent a stairlift if cost is a concern, but we sell 2nd hand stair lifts that are cheaper. The stairlift cost with installation is all included in our quotes.
Stairlift Models: Straight, Curved, and Narrow Options
The type of staircase in your home plays a big role in determining which stairlift is suitable and how much it will cost.
-
Straight stairlifts are generally the most affordable.
-
Curved stairlifts are custom-made to fit staircases with bends or landings and are typically more expensive.
-
Narrow stairlifts or stair lifts for narrow stairs are ideal for compact spaces and may require more specific models.
We also offer stair lifts designed for seniors and standing stair lifts, depending on your comfort and mobility needs. A standing stair lift price will be roughly the same as a straight stairlift price.
Save with Used or Refurbished Stairlifts
If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option, consider our used stairlifts or refurbished stairlifts. These pre-owned units are carefully inspected and maintained, offering reliable performance at a lower price. You can also explore second-hand stair lifts for sale or 2nd-hand stair lifts for even more savings.
Optional Features and Add-ons
Our stairlifts can be customised with additional features to enhance comfort and usability, such as:
-
Powered swivel seats
-
Powered footplates
-
Hinged rails
While these extras increase the cost of the stairlift, they offer added safety and convenience, especially for users with reduced mobility.

Stairlift Finance Options
If you need assistance with stairlift finance, there are two options that a lot of people will research.
Stair lift hire
Some people will assume that getting a stairlift rental will be the cheaper option. A lot of companies do offer stairlift hire, but here at Senior Stairlifts, we’ve found that the cost of renting a stairlift wasn’t actually far off the cost of a used stairlift for sale.
Stairlift hire will begin with an installation cost, which can range from £300-£500. Then once your rental stairlift is installed, this will then be followed up with a weekly cost of £25-£30 for your rental. There’s a good chance as well that you may be put in a contract for your stairlift rental, and your card details will be kept, which means that if you want to terminate the contract early, it could cost you.
We sell 2nd-hand stair lifts for a similar price to what the rental will come to. Our used stair lifts for sale usually range from £1,500 to £1,800, and they come with a 2-year warranty because we are very confident in our products. If you find yourself no longer needing your stairlift, we offer a buyback service so you may even get some of your money back.
Stairlift finance
If you’re looking into buying a pricier new lift, or even a reconditioned one and are looking to spread the cost, we are one of so many companies that offer stairlift finance. This way, you are able to spread the cost over a certain number of months, meaning if you want to upgrade to a better lift or extra features, you can! Unfortunately, there is no “cheapest stairlift;” however, we do offer second hand stair lifts for sale.
