Stairlift Installations
The main types of stairlifts that we provide are Straight Stairlifts, Curved Stairlifts, Outdoor Stairlifts & Standing Stairlifts.
Straight Stairlifts are made for straight staircases, while Curved lifts are made for staircases with a bend or landing. Outdoor stairlifts are weatherproof and standing stairlifts allow for the user to perch instead of sit whilst in use.
We also sell reconditioned stairlifts, which are used stairlifts that are repaired & renewed so that they are in a “like new” condition.
The cost of a stairlift varies depending on the type, model, and complexity of installation. On average, a new straight stairlift start from £2300, while curved stairlifts start from £4500. Reconditioned stairlifts are also available starting at £1500.
The installation of a straight stairlift usually takes a few hours, while a curved stairlift may take longer due to its custom design. Typically, the entire process can be completed within a day.
Typical stairlifts do not require major structural changes. They are installed on the stair case rather than the wall, so no extensive modifications are needed. However, a home assessment is needed to determine any specific requirements.
Yes we provide a 3 year warranty on our new stairlifts & a 2 year warranty on reconditioned stairlifts that covers labor & parts apart from anything caused by accidental damage & batteries.
Stairlift Repairs
Common issues include power supply problems, battery failures, track obstructions, faulty sensors, malfunctioning control switches, and mechanical wear and tear. Regular maintenance performed by a trained engineer can help prevent many of these issues.
If you are not covered by our warranty, Minor repairs can cost on average between £50 and £200, while more extensive repairs, such as motor or track replacement, can range from £200 to £600.
Minor repairs can often be completed within an hour or two. The time required for repairs depends on the complexity of the issue. While more significant problems may take longer, our repair technicians can provide a more accurate estimate on-site.
We highly recommend that you do not perform stairlift repairs yourself. Stairlifts are complex machines with safety-critical components. If there were damages done through an attempt to repair the stairlift yourself it would void any warranties that you may have.
We recommend that you get your stairlift serviced once a year to maintain optimal safety. Regular servicing like this can help identify any issues that may arise in the future & fix them before they become major problems.
Stairlift servicing is completed by our competent stairlift engineers. They are highly trained to be able to service a wide range of stairlift brands & models such as Acorn, Stannah, Handicare, Access (formerly Thyssenkrupp), Platinum Stairlifts & more.
Stairlift Removal/Reselling
In the UK, there are companies who will buy your stairlift from you & provide free removal. Our recommendations are:
Sell My Stairlift
Sell My Stairlift is a company that offers fair prices for your unwanted stairlifts. If you have a stairlift from their purchasing list, they will ask for images of the stairlift in question and give you a price depending on its condition and age. They offer free removals with purchased stairlifts and no hidden fees.
We Buy Any Stairlift
We Buy Any Stairlift has a wide range of older models of stairlifts that they will purchase. They offer free, no-obligation quotes on lifts from Acorn, Stannah, Handicare & More.
If you are looking for a stairlift removal, you may be able to make money getting a stairlift removed depending on its make, model & age.
We strongly recommend that you do not attempt to remove a stairlift alone. Stairlifts are known to be extremely heavy and can cause injury to someone who is not experienced with handling the weight of a stairlift seat and carriage.
When looking to sell a stairlift, the majority of companies will not be interested in buying your stairlift if it has been removed from the rail, as there is the risk that unnecessary damage that cannot be diagnosed whilst picking the stairlift up could have been done in the removal process. It is better to leave the stairlift attached to the rail so that the condition can be properly diagnosed in person before a professional removes it safely.
Stairlifts can take between 2-4 hours to remove depending on the complexity & length of the stairlift rail. The stairlift seat & carriage can be removed once one of the endpoints has been properly prepared, but the rail needs to be disconnected from the staircase.
Each strut that is holding up the stairlift rail will need to be detached from your staircase. So, the number of attachment points that are on your staircase will affect the speed at which the rail can be removed from your staircase.
Our removal engineers are highly trained to be able to complete stairlift removals swiftly but methodically. This means that no part of your stairlift system is forgotten & that the removal is completed with no issues.
Senior Stairlifts can have a removal engineer come & visit your home within 24-48 hours depending on the schedules of the engineers. We love to provide a fast, efficient & no-stress service that makes everybody happy.
We are fully aware of how an unwanted stairlift can affect the household, whether you are trying to claim back your space or remove a stairlift to make the home more attractive for potential buyers we will do everything in our power to help you with your unwanted stairlift.
